The Ram boat skill is solo friendly, but it has a heavy cost in ship Durability. Ship gear is important for sea monster hunting. Allot will depend upon the enhancement level of your cannon and plating of the ship. Preferably +7, but that is expensive to obtain. At least have +5 green gear.
