The company I worked for for 18yrs would not repair an item unless the customer would allow us to recondition the entire item and make it as close to new as possible. This may seem strange - but too many customers that only do a "spot repair" while leaving the rest of the item in poor condition leads to increased customer complaints and getting blamed for future issues with the jewelry.
