those rounded corners look awkward. I would get some 22mm MDF and a profile gauge. Cut and shape the MDF then gripfill it in place, prime and paint. The small c.3mm gap will allow some wiggle room

i doubt it mate,,,the gap on some frames is 35mm and it hasn't been done neat,,,they haven't even used a piece of the flooring as a guide for the saw,,,its just been hacked at and is mostly uneven cuts,,,id have to undercut it even more to say 40mm if I want to repair it properly,,,first I was going to do it with mdf and shape it but didn't fancy pulling out 150 quid on a scroll saw I probably will never use again,,,ive decided to get a door frame the same as the ones I have if i can find one and replace the bottom 40mm or 50mm with pieces of it and replace the architrave about the same,,,although the lads idea about a wooden carpet strip might work,,,20mm carpet strip slid in and you could probably put a bit filler in the small gaps that were left on top of that and like he said replace the small pieces of architrave,,,we shall see how it goes,,,thanks for all your replies,,,muchas gracias.......

They way I would try and tackle it would be to , if if you say it needs 40mm off then take a piece of board of that thicknes and lay it on the floor up against the frame to use as a platform guide for a multitool to slice through the frame.
