  1. Find a mechanical pencil, take out all the lead, and see if the opening fits snugly around a CPU socket pin.
  2. If the mechanical pencil fits, place the tip of the mechanical pencil over the bent CPU pin and gently shift the pin back into the correct position.
  3. Repeat step 2 on each bent CPU pin. Be sure to act with caution and don’t bend any individual pin too many times as it can snap.
  4. Once you’ve moved your CPU pins back into place, re-insert your CPU into the motherboard to check if everything is working properly.

My friend gave me an Asus Prime X299 Deluxe with a broken pin in the CPU socket. There is nothing left of the pin, just the tiny hole that it came out of. The system won't POST without it. My question is where would I take the board to have the CPU socket replaced? Thanks

iRileyx

Best option is return it if its still under warranty, or RMA it. I'd imagine its still under warranty with x299 being so new.

if they are comfortable desoldering the current socket, cleaning the board up, resoldering the pads then soldering on the new socket they should be able to do it if you are gonna send it to anyone i suggest sending it to Louis Rossmann https://www.rossmanngroup.com/ he does amazing work and even though he does macbook repairs im sure he could repair a cpu socket.
