Can wallowed out lug holes on steel wheels be repaired for a reasonable cost? I'm thinking about picking up 2 more Kelsey Hayes wheels that will give me matching spares for both the Jeep and trailer, but the lug holes are wallowed out. I don't want to buy them if they can't be fixed reasonably. So, can it be done?

Patrick Super Moderator Staff Member

And if they're like my wallowed out KH wheels, the center hole isn't very round anymore either.

And I've read about tapered steel inserts that can be used to fix wallowed out holes. So they may not be a total write-off but probably wouldn't be cheap to fix, either.

Zoomer eJeeper (walking) 2020 Sponsor

I looked at them once a while back and passed, but I don't remember how the center hole was. They're pretty hard to find, so I'm getting real tempted to buy them just for spares for the Jeep and trailer. No use wasting $ if they are not safe to use though.
