How is it broken? Is it a bolt-on terminal and broken across the eye? There are no hard and fast rules for this stuff, perhaps posting a pic might help.

Its not a bolt on to the battery. But the cables do bolt through an eye and the eye broke. I am no opposed to dropping 69 but Im a CBOA at heart so heres what I did. JB Weld around the outside of the terminal after softly pounding the two pieces back together. Then I'll run thin copper through to help the conducive properties. Pictures will follow.

I also have a battery that broke the post really close to where it goes into the battery. Drilled it the size of the smallest allen head I could find. Then took a small plate I drilled and bolted at a 90 degree angle to the old post so there would be less torque on the bolt hole. Bolted it tight, and liquid steeled it for additional strength.

Battery was about 1 yr old and very strong. Took it to a battery specialty shop. Guy happened to also be a BMW owner. he didnt have anything in stock, but he filed, tapped it and I dropped a wood screw in when I got home. It's a very solid connection. I will prob buy new this winter, but for now I'm satisfidd.
