I've searched here and elsewhere on line but have yet to find a suggested product to use in repairing a substantial crack in the motor cowling's aft-end on my old ('92),15-hp, 2-stroke Mercury outboard. It must have taken an impact, likely when I was handling it, not when in use as it sits nicely in a protected well.

You'll have to check the epoxy compatibility, but I've repairs made to cowling with epoxy and fiberglass cloth from the inside to stabilize the panel then body putty and paint to repair the cosmetics from the outside.

I busted the S**t outta mine 2 days ago. I will fix it with epoxy and 403, but it is FG. I have a 5hp Tohotsu that is plastic, is that what you have?

WEST G-Flex is works well on plastic, even rubbery plastic like Coleman Canoe shells and kayak shells. Also PC-7 - I've used that on several plastic hulls. Not sure if PC-7 will take paint - hulls I fixed were pure utility and cosmetics were not a problem. Crack you say? Don't forget to drill a hole just beyond the end of the crack.

No an outboard cowl, but I repaired the fiberglass instrument cowling on my old tractor years ago - my wife was driving it and got too close to an s-hook hanging from a chain, which managed to perfectly hook itself on the bottom of the cowling and ripped the whole side off of it! Anyway, after removing it from the tractor, I used duct tape on the outside to pull it all back together and into alignment.
